Social and community spaces shape everyday urban experience and collective interaction. UPA approaches these investments by considering user circulation, accessibility, spatial adaptability, operational requirements and connections to their surroundings. The objective is to treat each project as enduring social infrastructure rather than simply a physical building.
Shopping Centres (Malls)
Retail layout, visitor circulation, common areas and service logistics are planned as interdependent systems. The design approach balances commercial performance with the quality of the shared public experience.
Exhibition and Fairgrounds
Exhibition venues require adaptability across event formats, modular use, pedestrian circulation and robust technical infrastructure. Operational flexibility for installation, event use and dismantling informs spatial decisions.
Open-Air and Enclosed Car Parks
Vehicle and pedestrian movements, access capacity, wayfinding and connections to the wider site are evaluated together. Parking facilities are planned to serve their associated development efficiently and safely.
Parks and Gardens
Accessible, climate-responsive green spaces are planned for users of different ages. Landscape, walking routes, seating areas and ecological continuity are integrated into a coherent open-space strategy.
Play-Oriented Park Areas
Play, rest and social interaction are combined to support safe use by children and families. Age-appropriate equipment, inclusion, shade and maintenance requirements are considered from the outset.
Theatres
Stage areas, auditoria, foyers and back-of-house facilities are developed as a coordinated functional system. Acoustics, sightlines, accessibility and audience experience guide design decisions.
Schools
Learning environments are planned around flexible use, safe circulation, outdoor connections and age-specific needs. Long-term adaptability of educational spaces is a central consideration.
Our Approach
UPA’s focus is on developing places that engage with their urban context while addressing social value and operational sustainability.
